Biggest Win: Prior to the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, I placed two futures bets on the outcome of the tournament predicting a final of Spain vs The Netherlands. The outcome provided me with a guaranteed profit at significant odds. Holland at 10-1 and Spain at 5.5-1 definitely stands out as one of my biggest accomplishments as a sports bettor.
Handicapping Strategies: When it comes to sniffing through the daily boards I love to give the home underdogs the benefit of the doubt. Even the worst teams tend to have respectable home records, in any sport. Sportsbooks continue to overlook the ability of a statistically weaker team to pull through in front of a home crowd. I feel there is a large sum of money to be made here.
Teams I Avoid: Being from Toronto I can't muster up the courage to bet against my home team, in any sport. But if the line against them is great, I have no problem letting the rest of the world know.
Sports I Excel At: The two sports I feel most comfortable betting on are baseball and hockey. My knowledge of the NHL as well as the AHL and CHL help give me an edge that help in the short and long term of hockey betting. Still I'm very active and proficient in both the NFL and NBA as well as most major soccer leagues.
